September is a month of transition.

The days may still hold the warmth of summer, but the mornings begin to whisper that another season is coming. Gardens give their last abundance. Apples arrive at the market. The house begins to call us back indoors. And little by little, we turn our attention toward preparing home and hearth for the months ahead.

This is not a planner designed to make you busier.

It is an invitation to gather in, prepare well, use what you have, care for the people you love—and make room to enjoy the season you're preparing for.

A Companion, Not a Checklist

This is an intentionally generous publication, filled with far more ideas than we expect any one cottage friend to accomplish in a single September.

Please don't try to do it all.

Your home, family, season of life, climate, budget and available time are your own.

Choose the pages that serve you right now. Skip anything that doesn't. Adapt our ideas to the way your household actually lives. Write on the working pages, tuck others into your binder for later, and save entire projects for another September if that's what makes sense.

There are no gold stars for completing every page—and absolutely no judgment for leaving half of them untouched.

At Honey Bee & Lavender Cottage, we don't prepare because we are afraid of what might be coming.

We prepare because there is peace in knowing that some of tomorrow's work has already been lovingly done.

A meal tucked into the freezer. A pantry with the things our family actually eats. A house tended before the weather turns. A basket of apples becoming something wonderful. Branches gathered from the garden and brought inside. Children learning beside us. Women working together. A table where there is room for one more.

And eventually, an evening when we can sit down, light the candles, pass the supper and simply be there.

Because the purpose of preparing our homes is not to spend our lives preparing them.

We prepare so that we can live in them.
